As you can see the first picture has burrs and rough edges and the second picture the burrs are removed and the gears are polished.

Hold the body up to the light and you will see darker areas where the body is thicker and lighter areas where the body is thinner. I apologize for the pic, but it's tough to hold the object and camera steady... :-)

The residue that is left after the resin has cured. Well I have found a way to quickly and easily remove that resin residue without damaging the mold.

All you need is some painters tape.

Take the tape and press on top of the mold

And voila the resin residue is now removed from the mold and now on the tape.

This is very very thin sheet of styrene. The sectioned roof pieces were glued to this.

Also notice the styrene post reinforcement. These pieces allow for more glue surface area which translates into a stronger more sturdy bond and therefore top. Anyway for those that might want to know.

Sometimes when casting I realized after creating the RTV mold that I needed an additional vent hole. The problem is that when I tried to drill the hole the drill bit would drill through the RTV but would not create a hole. It would just split the RTV. When the bit was removed the RTV would close back together as if the hole never existed. So today I put the mold in the freezer for about three hours then took the mold out and then drilled the RTV to create a vent hole... and to my surprise and satisfaction I actually drilled a vent hole in the RTV mold. This now gives me the ability to correct vent hole mistakes and or omissions after the mold has been created!!

Below is the the hole drilled after pulling out of the freezer.
